Cartier Double Mysterious Floating Tourbillon
Cartier watchmakers use a sapphire crystal dial with anti reflective treatment and create a hole of the same size as the tourbillon within it, perfectly crafting the illusion of the tourbillon frame floating in mid air. To achieve this illusion, they set the supporting frame s dial in a rotating state and place the driving escapement s minute wheel on the pivot, which is used to limit the intrinsic resistance torque of the mechanical device supporting the tourbillon. This successfully transmits power to the tourbillon, allowing the entire device to complete a floating rotation once per minute. Consequently, as the tourbillon completes one rotation in the transparent open space every minute, its frame undergoes a complete self rotation. The secret to this achievement lies in the arrangement of a set of gear tracks around the edge of the sapphire crystal dial, connecting the dial to a large gear that rotates once every minute.
This magic watch is equipped with a refined manual winding mechanical movement crafted by independent watchmakers, the culmination of long term research and development. For example, determining the rotational speed of the moving components requires countless calculations. To minimize energy consumption, the tourbillon frame completes a full rotation in its specific space every minute. To enhance the efficiency of this moving device, the weights of the movement components have been minimized, thereby better controlling the inertia of the rotating components, including the dial and titanium tourbillon frame. Although the weight of the floating frame has been reduced to a minimum of 0.28 grams, part of the weight compensation for the regulating mechanism and the frame employs a K material for the engaging gear s circular frame, installed opposite the tourbillon to create a dynamic balance effect.
